Before ordering: agree what the fireplace and the room need

Show the proposed fireplace, vent path and exterior termination together. If there are no reliable drawings for the existing installation, say so. Before the wall is finished: settle materials, clearances and the TV plan

Changes made during construction need to reach the people responsible for the fireplace. A deeper cabinet, thicker facing or revised vent route may change more than the appearance. Specify one complete appliance and accessory package

Record the exact fireplace, fuel configuration, burner or media option, controls and approved accessories included in the estimate. Optional equipment should be named and priced clearly. For a strata project, provide the relevant written requirements and identify who coordinates the application and building access.
