Pitt Meadows · Control response, ignition and supported repairs

Power back, fireplace still not right?

Gas fireplace repair in Pitt Meadows starts with diagnosis of the function that stopped working. Bernoulli Heating & Cooling assesses control, receiver and ignition complaints, including changes noticed after a power interruption. We explain the supported repair before you approve extra work.

Send the last normal use, what changed and the available model record. For planned care of a working fireplace, choose fireplace service. For a different appliance or a new outage-heating goal, request a free installation or replacement estimate.

$135 diagnosisRepair labour, parts and materials cost extra.

Did the problem begin before, during or after the power cut?

Start with the last normal use and the first change. A fault noticed after electricity returned needs diagnosis; the timing alone does not identify a damaged component.

Think of the interruption as one event in the appliance’s history. A fireplace that was already reluctant to start has a different history from one that worked normally until the house lost electricity. An appliance that remained off throughout the outage has not demonstrated whether its fitted backup system works.

Write down what you already observed. Did the pilot or main flame stop when the power went off? Did the handset remain lit? After power returned, did the normal operating command produce a response, clicking, a message or silence? Mention a previous repair or accessory change that happened before this sequence.

  • Last normal use: approximate date and the control you used.
  • During the interruption: which functions actually continued, if observed.
  • After restoration: what changed when the normal command was used.
  • Current status: appliance off, intermittent response or another known condition.

You do not need to recreate the fault for a better description. Keep an existing photograph of a message or an earlier recording. Leave repeated failed ignition or unusual operation for assessment rather than cycling the fireplace again.

Read the flame, handset and fan as separate clues

A working screen, an operating burner and moving room air are different functions. Tell us which one changed so the repair enquiry reaches the right diagnostic scope.

Three observations to keep separate
What you noticed What to report What it does not establish
Handset displays a command Whether the appliance responded and whether another installed control was normally used. A visible display does not prove that the receiver received or acted on the command.
Pilot or main burner changed Which flame was present during the last observed use, and where the start sequence stopped. Loss of flame after an interruption does not, by itself, identify a failed ignition board.
Fan stopped moving air Whether the burner operated and whether the fan previously worked with the same settings. A silent accessory fan does not establish that the whole fireplace has no heating function.

A complaint can involve more than one row. For example, the handset may show a command while the burner remains off, or the burner may operate while the blower stays silent. Keep those observations together without combining them into a parts diagnosis.

The fireplace power-outage guide explains why electrical dependence varies. Our fan and blower guide covers the air-moving accessory. Neither guide replaces checking the actual fireplace and its instructions.

Follow the installed control path before choosing a repair

Diagnosis checks how the command reaches this appliance. Receiver, ignition, power supply and connected accessories need to be considered as one installed arrangement.

Send the fireplace model and the handset or wall-control details you already have. A photo of the front and the operating control is useful when a label is difficult to reach. Use the model and serial-number guide to organize records without removing glass or dismantling the fireplace.

A lit remote screen only tells us about that handset’s display. A receiver can have a separate power arrangement. The installed system determines how those pieces communicate and how ignition is supplied. The remote and receiver assessment guide helps explain the difference between sending a command and the fireplace responding.

Where the start sequence stops, the proposed investigation should identify the relevant circuit or assembly. The ignition module and control-board guide explains why a new board is a conclusion to support, rather than a default response to an outage. A pilot or gas-control finding may need a different repair.

Do not bridge a safety switch, connect an improvised power supply or try repeated resets to make the fireplace run. Tell the technician about any earlier control substitutions so the installed configuration can be checked against the correct documentation.

Confirm the control family and approved component

The replacement must belong to the appliance’s supported configuration. A receiver that looks similar or a handset from the same brand may still be unsuitable.

For a Valor repair enquiry, include both the fireplace and control information. Valor’s battery resources distinguish handset and receiver arrangements. Use the instructions for your particular controls; do not assume the handset battery is the only battery involved.

For a Napoleon unit, identify whether its documented system uses a standing-pilot arrangement, electronic ignition or another configuration. For an Archgard appliance, send the full model and any control-kit record.

Ask a parts proposal to name the confirmed component or compatible assembly, the reason it is needed and any connected items included. Separate an essential repair from an optional control upgrade. If availability cannot be confirmed, the quote should say so before you authorize an order.

A return visit may be needed when the correct part is not available at the diagnostic appointment. Confirm the proposed sequence and additional work. Photographs and a catalogue description alone do not establish that a board, receiver or pilot assembly will fit your installed system.

Are you restoring operation or adding an outage feature?

Restoring the fireplace’s documented behaviour is a repair goal. Adding a capability it never had needs a separate review of approved options.

Be clear about the expected result. “It used to respond to this wall switch and now it does not” describes a changed function. “I want it to heat during a future power failure” describes a capability request. The second request cannot be settled by replacing the first convenient control component.

If the installed appliance supports a manufacturer-approved battery arrangement, its actual condition and configuration can be assessed. If it does not support the required function, a universal receiver or improvised connection is not an equivalent solution. Discuss a permitted accessory option or a different appliance with its own confirmed installation scope.

Pitt Meadows directs gas permits and inspections to Technical Safety BC. Its permit application guidance separates that work from City building permits. Have the contractor confirm the requirements for any proposed alteration; a diagnostic appointment and an appliance replacement have different scopes.

When the new requirement points toward an appliance change, Bernoulli offers a free Pitt Meadows fireplace replacement estimate. The repair-versus-replacement comparison helps organize the decision around supported functions and the complete project.

Make the appointment specific to your Pitt Meadows property

Identify the affected room, the person providing access and the person approving the repair. Include existing model records and the observed timeline.

For an Osprey Village address or another Pitt Meadows location, give the unit number and actual access arrangements. A neighbourhood name cannot identify the fireplace’s controls. For a house with more than one fireplace, attach each complaint to the correct room and appliance.

A townhouse or strata apartment may need coordination for entry, parking, service access or work involving shared elements. Tell us who holds the existing installation records and who can discuss any proposed vent or exterior work. A tenant should identify the owner or other person authorizing the repair scope.

Example repair enquiry: “The living-room fireplace responded normally before the interruption. After electricity returned, the handset display stayed on but the appliance did not respond. It is now off. Here are the model record and control photo.”

If the fault is intermittent, state whether it existed before the outage and what happened during the last occurrence. Keep the report honest when a function was not observed. An unknown is more useful than a guessed sequence that sends the visit toward the wrong component.

Gas fireplace repair in Pitt Meadows: define the repair quote

The diagnostic appointment is $135. Repair labour, parts and materials are additional, and the findings should explain the work you can approve.

When requesting the visit, distinguish one control complaint from several appliances or separate faults. Confirm what the diagnostic appointment covers and any additional scope. The $135 appointment should not be read as the final price for a receiver, board, pilot or other component repair.

After diagnosis, ask which finding supports the proposed repair, whether it restores the original function and what remains unresolved. A quote should distinguish a necessary component from an optional feature change and state any planned return visit. Approve the defined work after its price and scope are clear.

If your fireplace works normally and you want scheduled cleaning and inspection, use Pitt Meadows fireplace service. Report an operating fault when booking repair. Bernoulli provides 24/7 phone support; the diagnostic visit and further work follow separately arranged appointment availability.

Pitt Meadows repair questions

Is the power cut proof that my ignition board failed?

No. The timing is useful history, but it does not identify a failed board. Report what worked before the interruption and where the last observed operating sequence stopped afterward. Diagnosis needs to check the installed control and ignition arrangement before recommending a replacement component.

Why can the handset look normal while the fireplace ignores it?

The handset display and the fireplace receiver are different parts of the control system. A lit display does not confirm receiver power, communication or a completed ignition sequence. Share the exact handset and fireplace models so the technician can assess the installed arrangement.

Can batteries keep the fan running as well as the flame?

That depends on the documented appliance and fitted accessories. Battery-supported ignition or control does not automatically mean an electric blower can run without house power. Have the technician confirm which functions your exact system supports, rather than treating the whole fireplace as one battery-powered device.

Should I buy a universal receiver before the appointment?

Wait until compatibility and the fault are established. A similar connector or a matching brand name is not enough to select an approved receiver. Send the control details first. The proposed repair should identify the compatible component or assembly and explain why it is needed.

Will a repair give an older fireplace new outage capabilities?

Repair can restore a supported function, but it cannot promise a capability the appliance was not designed to provide. A manufacturer-approved accessory may need separate assessment. If a different appliance is required, start with a free installation or replacement estimate for the complete project.

What if power is back but the fault only appears sometimes?

Describe the last occurrence and whether the same fault existed before the interruption. Keep any message or recording you already have without repeatedly running the appliance to reproduce a fault. An intermittent complaint still needs a defined diagnostic scope; repair labour, parts and materials are additional to the $135 appointment.

Describe the change. Get the repair scope confirmed.

Call or send your Pitt Meadows address, fireplace model, control photo and observed timeline. Start with diagnosis before committing to a replacement part.

24/7 phone support. Appointment availability and additional work are confirmed separately.
